Location
The Old Capitol Art Fair is located on the
state-owned Old State Capitol grounds in downtown Springfield,
and the surrounding streets and sidewalks. Well within walking
distance of several hotels and many restaurants, the Fair
provides ample opportunity for individuals, friends and
families to visit area shops, as well as the many Lincoln
historical sites. Springfield, Illinois is located about
100 miles from St. Louis and 180 miles from Chicago, on
Interstate 55. It is 80 miles from Champaign-Urbana and
100 miles from Quincy/Hannibal MO. Artists from across the
United States arrive the Friday night before the fair, or
early Saturday morning to set up for sales. The fair opens
at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
There is an area at the Old Capitol Art Fair set aside for
enjoying refreshments and entertainment! You may take a
break from strolling among the artist booths, use the time
to consider a purchase or show off what you just got! There's
always a good selection of beverages, sandwiches and snacks
from which to choose.
Often you will find the "al fresco" dining area
includes entertainment. Bring your friends and family and
enjoy good company, good food, and good art! We are located
on the northwest corner of the art fair. Come see us!
