Entrythingy:
The Springfield Old Capitol Art Fair is now accepting applications
for the 2012 Fair via entrythingy. Please click on the link
and follow the instructions from there. Artists may visit
www.entrythingy.com for a brief video tutorial, or for answers
to frequently asked questions. The PDF files of work should
be uploaded through the site, but entry fees need to be
mailed to:
Springfield Old Capitol Art Fair (SOCAF)
Attn: Jury
P.O. Box 5701
Springfield, IL 62705
If necessary, we would able to process a small number of
applications by hand, but SOCAF reserves the right to charge
a nominal fee for this service. The move to online registration
is for the convenience of artists and the Fair, to lessen
the impact on the environment, and to make the overall process
more efficient and less costly. Thank you for your support
and patience as we make this transition.
The deadline for entries is Monday, November 14, 2011. According
to the new rotating re-jury, participants in the 2011 Fair
do not need to apply unless they fall into the alphabetized
category for the new re-jury policy.
Re-jury Policy:
The Fair has adopted a re-jury schedule that will require
artists to re-jury every three years. This policy is designed
to maintain a fresh perspective of exhibiting artists.
Below is a schedule for re-jury based on the first letter
of the artist's last name. Whatever year the last name falls
under is the year that artist will be required to re-jury
for the Fair.
2011: A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H
2012: I,J,K,L,M,N,O,P
2013: Q,R,S,T,U,V,W,X,Y,Z
From 2014 on each artist will be re-juried every
three years. If an artist does not participate in the Fair
in any given year, the three years begins from the next
time the artist exhibits. For example, artists with last
names beginning with letters A-H should re-jury this year
for the 2011 Fair.
Reproduction
Policy:
If original work is copied by digital or photographic means
and printed on an offset press, a serigraph press, or through
a computer by means of an inkjet or electrostatic printer,
this is a reproduction (this definition includes giclees).
Reproductions are limited to 20% of booth space and must
be kept in a browsing bin. Each piece should be clearly
labeled as a reproduction and not as an offset lithograph
or print. Note cards, postcards, calendars,
coloring books, posters, etc. are not allowed under this
policy.
Ceramics made from commercial molds, commercial fabricated
jewelry forms and settings, and items made from hobby store
kits are not acceptable.
Display Policy:
Reproductions may not be hung in display space.
SOCAF collects only a booth fee and does not take a percentage
of exhibitors' revenues. All exhibitors pay applicable sales
tax and a fee for a local vendor's license (currently $25
per booth).
