Art Collection
The Old Capitol Art Fair Board of Directors purchases
selected works from participating artists. Each year the purchases
are announced at the Patrons' Party and these become part of a permanent
collection, open to the public, and on display in Springfield's
Municipal Center, the Lincoln Library, and the Sangamon County Complex.
Municipal
Center - Located on Monroe Street, between 7th and 8th
Streets, these two buildings are open between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
weekdays. Here visitors will see oils, watercolors, mixed media,
etchings, ceramic and metal sculptures, as well as photographs.
Artists represented include: William Bauer, Bob Brudd, Joseph Fettingis,
Curt Frankenstein, Tom Fricano, Harriet Hanson, Ray Hartel, Lois
Palmer Huth, Billy Jackson, Win Jones, Atsushi Kikuchi, W.E. Coombs,
and Charles Houska.
Lincoln
Library - The library is at 326 S. 7th Street and is open
Monday through Thursday from 9 to 9, Friday 9 to 6, Saturday 9 to
5, and in the winter on Sundays from 1 to 5. Phone 1-217-753-4945
for more information. On display at the library are oil and watercolor
paintings, mixed media collage, etchings, ceramic and bronze bas
relief, bronze castings, pencil drawings, woven tapestry, metal
sculptures, and photographs. Artists whose works were purchased
for display are: Jan and Mel Fleck, Edward J. Giant, Susan Hunt-Wulkowitcz,
Sally Kirk, Fran Larsen, Jack Madura, Michael Martin, Charles Morris,
Jim Prindiville, Sheri Ramsey, Ronald Rolfe, Doug Stock, Dwayne
Warwick, Philip White, and W. Scott Wilson. A bronze sculpture by
Abbott Pattison and a steel sculpture by Eugene Horvath are on display
outside.
Sangamon
County Complex - At 200 S. 9th Street, the complex is open
weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The bronze sculpture, enamel on copper,
multi-media, watercolor and batik, and watercolor paintings are
on display on the first and second floors. Artists with works displayed
are: Lyn Chirstopher, J. Luray Schaffner, Dale Streffey, Dawn Adams,
and Larry Steinbauer.
